First Naval Jack aka 1st Navy Jack or US Naval Jack
Size: 6 x 9 inches
Perfect for a Display in Office, Bedroom, or a Framed Collectable
A stylized version of the “Don’t Tread On Me” flag, attributed to the Culpeper Minutemen of Colonial Virginia — early militia who embraced the motto “Liberty or Death.” While its use isn’t definitively proven, it’s believed to be among the first flags flown against British forces at the onset of the Revolutionary War.
This flag features a coiled rattlesnake — a uniquely American symbol — positioned above the warning “DON’T TREAD ON ME.” The rattlesnake represented independence and deadly resolve, found only in the American Colonies. Its shape on the flag is said to resemble the colonies themselves, with the tail near Florida and the head in New England.
