Gadsden “Don’t Tread On Me” Flag – Heavy-Duty American-Made Nylon
This premium Gadsden flag is crafted in the USA from our most rugged, UV-resistant outdoor nylon. Engineered for maximum tensile and tear strength, it flies beautifully even in low wind while withstanding harsh weather. Solid brass grommets, reinforced fly corners, and a one-inch double-stitched edge with four rows on the fly ensure unmatched durability. Fade-resistant dyes produce bold, lasting color.
Historically, this “Don’t Tread On Me” flag traces back to 1775, when Commodore Esek Hopkins — the Continental Navy’s first commander — was given this design by Christopher Gadsden. Featuring a coiled rattlesnake on a yellow field, it was flown from Hopkins’ flagship, the Alfred, on January 4, 1776 — making it one of the earliest flags of the United States, predating the Stars and Stripes.
Gadsden, a leader of South Carolina’s Sons of Liberty and a Continental Congress delegate, helped establish this naval standard as a symbol of colonial resistance. The rattlesnake, uniquely native to the American colonies, embodied a clear warning: disturb us, and we strike.
A legendary piece of American Revolutionary War history — fly it with pride.
